There & Here

Installed at The Factory in Djúpavík, Iceland for the annual exhibition titled The Water Beneath.

The Icelandic landscape offers a paradox of permanence and transience, where mountains meet shifting light. This dichroic column engages that paradox directly. The iridescent, shifting surfaces sparkle and draw us in, echoing the human instinct to be captivated by glistening water, while foregrounding the artificial as a deliberate construct.

Within the industrial framework of the factory, the work establishes a dialogue of contrasts: solidity and fragility, structure and surface, architecture and ornament. The thin, reflective film destabilizes the authority of concrete mass, much like the interplay of mountain against sea or earth against sky.

Occupying an indeterminate category, the columns oscillate between object and atmosphere, presence and apparition. They function simultaneously as architectural intervention and spectral image, suspended in a liminal register that collapses distinctions between site and non-site, duration and instant, here and elsewhere.
